Government Of Assam Power

Going Green

Power Department believes in clean energy for a clean world. To make this belief reality, GoA has given major thrust on use of renewable energy for capacity addition in a sizeable way to reduce the dependence to non-renewable sources of power like Coal and Gas based power plants.

GoA has primarily focused on implementation of
  • Grid - Interactive solar power projects like roof-top / ground mounted solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plant.
  • Standalone Micro -Grid SPV plants
  • Solar Street Lighting System
  • Distribution of Solar Lanterns
  • Hybrid solar & wind lighting prototypes which uses combination of two or more energy sources within the same system, such as wind and solar ones.
  • Solar water pumping for micro- irrigation/agriculture purposes
  • Individual Home Lighting System through mini solar power plant
Some initiatives taken up by APDCL in the new and renewable energy sector:
  • Commissioning of 100 KWp Grid interactive roof-top/ground mounted solar photovoltaic power plant with Net- Metering arrangement in some important tourist locations/wildlife sanctuaries viz. Aranya Tourist Lodge, Kaziranga National Park, Kohara; Pobitora Yatri Niwas, Near Wildlife Sanctuary, Pobitora; Asstt. Director of Industries & Commerce complex, Margherita of Tinsukia district etc.
  • Commissioning of 40 nos. of Solar Street lighting system and another 210 KWp Grid interactive solar roof-top/ground mounted plant (with minimal battery backup) in 10 nos Govt. educational colleges out of the budgeted allocation received from Govt. of Assam namely M.C. College, Barpeta; Nalbari College, K.R.B. Girls College, Fatasil, Guwahati; Tinsukia College, Margherita College, Ledo College, Philobari College, Motilala Periwal College, Margherita , N.N. Saikia College, Titabar & J.B. College
  • Commissioning of 100 KWp off-grid roof-top/ground mounted solar photovoltaic power plant in Bijulee Bhawan, Guwahati with financial support from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India.
  • Commissioning of Off- Grid SPV plant & Street Lighting in the locations having tourism and historical importance is in progress viz. (a) Umananda Temple (b) Umatumani Hills,Biswanath Ghat, (c) Ajan Peer dargah, Soraguri Sapari, Sibsagar (d) Sukapha Maidam, Charaideu, Sibsagar under Annual Plan, GoA.
  • Installation of 276 nos of standalone Micro -Grid SPV plant in 37 nos. of villages and 236 nos. of Solar Central Charging station with distribution of 11800 lanterns to villagers of 30 villages are in progress under Annual Plan.
  • Commissioning of 13 nos. of Micro-Grid SPV plant in Rampur, Kamrup & Bihpuria Block, North Lakhimpur.
  • Considering ample potential scope for solar water pumping for micro- irrigation/agriculture purposes, APDCL has taken up installation of 33 nos. of solar water pumps throughout the state which are located in a far-off and isolated place
